The Arizona Cardinals placed defensive lineman Kenny Iwebema on Injured Reserve Tuesday after the third-year defensive lineman tore multiple ligaments in his right knee during Sunday’s overtime loss at Minnesota.
Iwebema is no stranger to injuries. Prior to the 2009 season, he had a malignant tumor removed from his chest that delayed the start of his season.
The Minneapolis native rebounded to play 11 games, became a playmaker on special teams and collected nine tackles and two sacks.
"I gave up on 'why me' last year. I'm just pushing forward," he said. "It's part of football.”
To fill Iwebema’s roster spot, the Cardinals signed linebacker Cyril Obiozor from the San Diego Chargers’ practice squad. Obiozor was with Arizona earlier this season.
The team also signed defensive end Ronald Talley to the practice squad and released linebacker J.D. Folsom. Talley was most recently with Green Bay.
