The Cardinals' current four-game losing streak has brought out the boo birds in full force and several areas continue to struggle.

Following the Cardinals’ 38-16 loss against Seattle, coach Ken Whisenhunt insisted his team’s recent four-game losing streak isn’t a matter of effort and significant personnel changes aren’t on the horizon.

Instead, Whisenhunt points to a lack of execution and ongoing mistakes that have been detrimental in all facets of the game. Whisenhunt has experienced a great deal of success during his first three seasons in the desert and doesn’t plan on abandoning his philosophy based on this year’s struggles.

Whisenhunt on struggles: “It’s tough. You know that at some point you’re going to have to go through some tough times. You have to stick with what you believe in. Obviously we feel like what we do works because we ‘ve had success with it.”

“We got to fight through this battle of not making the mistakes on game day. That’s what’s hurting us. We’ve set the standard here of making plays in critical situations. Now what’s happening is we’re not making enough plays in all facets of our games. We’re seeing other teams make plays on us but we’re not answering those plays. That’s what hurts.”

BOO BIRDS OUT

WR Larry Fitzgerald managed to reel in seven passes for 91 yards against the Seahawks but the Cardinals offense was ineffective for most of Sunday’s contest. In addition, the defense played equally as bad, leading to many unhappy fans in the crowd. The boo birds were out in full force and Fitzgerald doesn’t blame the fans for expressing their disapproval of Arizona’s 3-6 start.

Fitzgerald on boos: “It’s hard not to hear those. The fans pay a lot of money to come in here and watch a good product. They’ve expected good things from us over the past three seasons and we’re not giving them the kind of show they deserve. When you pay that kind of money for tickets, you have the right to boo.”

DEFENSE STRUGGLES

Over the past two games, the Cardinals defense has been torched for nearly 1,000 yards of offense – most coming through the air. CB Greg Toler was ineffective against revived WR Mike Williams for the second straight game. Williams caught 11 passes for 145 yards and Toler was eventually replaced in the secondary by nickel back Michael Adams. Safeties Adrian Wilson and Kerry Rhodes were also unable to hold up in coverage and were the culprits of numerous missed tackles by the defense.

O-LINE CONTINUES TO FALTER

The Cardinals’ offensive line continues to look uninspired, giving up five sacks against Seattle. DE Chris Clemons and LB Aaron Curry each notched two sacks a piece, exploiting Arizona’s glaring weakness against speed rushers off the edge. Furthermore, the Cardinals’ running backs and tight ends were ineffective in pass protection – a trend pointed out by Whisenhunt earlier in the week.

INJURY UPDATE

DT Darnell Dockett (shoulder) was a surprise inactive against the Seahawks and his status for this week is still unknown. Meanwhile, RB Beanie Wells was held out of action in hopes of finally overcoming swelling in his surgically repaired knee.

RB LaRod Stephens-Howling suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday’s contest and could limit one of the team’s few bright spots this season. RB Jason Wright suffered a concussion and will undergo standard testing throughout the week.
