Cardinals: Bridges to Spark Offensive Line?

With Brandon Keith out for the season, Jeremy Bridges will take over at right tackle and could spark the o-line.

Offensive lineman Jeremy Bridges doesn't lack confidence, or at least he's very good at pretending he doesn't.

Bridges, in his eighth NFL season, is expected to start at right tackle Sunday in Kansas City, replacing Brandon Keith, who is out for the season with a hamstring tear.

Bridges said he feels at home at right tackle, where he started from time to time in his NFL career.

"It's coming home," he said. "You always know your room's there. You know how your bed feels."

If right tackle is home, then left tackle was a Motel 6 for him. Bridges played there near the end of last season when starter Mike Gandy went down with an injury.

At the time, Bridges professed the utmost confidence in himself, but inside, he was scared.

"I had to say a prayer before the game; I didn't know how it was going to go," he said. "My technique was horrible. My feet were all over the place. My hands were horrible. I was holding, just scrappin' and fightin'."

Bridges' first start was against the Vikings and defensive end Jared Allen. The week before the game, Bridges looked calm and professed all confidence in his ability to shut down Allen.

Turns out, he was just masking his nervousness.

"Why would I show it?" he said. "You got to get your swagger and go out there and act like you know what you're doing even if you don't."

Bridges didn't allow a sack that day and the Cardinals are hoping to get similar production out of him for the rest of the season.
