DeSean Jackson doesn't want to be compared to Larry Fitzgerald, the Steelers extended the contract…
Larry Fitzgerald's new deal a family affair
The three were joining several teammates at a concert in downtown Phoenix after the game. Fitzgerald also brought a prop: a pair of his cleats.
"When you sign an eight-year deal, when you come to the boss's office, I had to feel like I was doing something," Fitzgerald said. "Maybe he wanted me to go out there and run some routes or something."
--Guard Daryn Colledge spent five seasons with the Packers before signing with the Cardinals. He enjoyed his return to Lambeau Field but wasn't happy he wasn't invited by the Packers to the ceremony honoring them at the White House.
"It's a disappointing fact that they didn't even call guys that helped win to see if they wanted to join them," he said. "They said it was a logistics thing, but I believe I had the day off."
-- Several veterans have talked about how this training camp feels different than last season's. Players are more focused, they said, than in 2010. Coach Ken Whisenhunt won't go that far.
"Our guys worked hard last year in camp. We had some things that didn't go the way we wanted them to go in-season, but I'm not going to get into comparing how we felt last year at camp to how we feel this year at camp. "If we win football games, that's all that matters."
--NT Dan Williams irritated coaches when he showed up to camp out of shape. Williams weighed 334, which was only six pounds over his usual weight, but he had little stamina, especially at Flagstaff's 7,000-feet elevation.
"I'll be the first one to say, I didn't work out like John Lott workout," said Williams, referring to the Cardinals' strength and conditioning coach. "I should have done more. Next year, I'll know the proper steps and I'll put this behind me."
QUOTE TO NOTE: "I'm, glad I'm stepping into a team like that rather than a team that won maybe 12 football games last year and they think it happens every year. The intensity of this camp is better than I've been in before. That urge to win and keep getting better is something I want to be a part of and I'm glad I'm a part of it." -- QB Kevin Kolb on the Cardinals' mindset after going 5-11.
