Rookies Acho, Peterson coming on strong

Posted Nov 7, 2011

Rookie LB Sam Acho started for a second straight game against the Rams and CB Patrick Peterson now has three punt return touchdowns in just eight contests.

LINEUP WATCH: Rookie Sam Acho has started at right outside linebacker the past two games, and it's not just because Joey Porter's been out with a knee injury. Porter was not making an impact even when he was relatively healthy, and the move to Acho was overdue. Acho is slightly ahead of O'Brien Schofield, in his second year. Both are far more athletic than Porter and have some pass-rush skills, which Porter appears to no longer possess. Acho has recorded sacks in each of the past three games.

TRENDING: Patrick Peterson has three punt returns for touchdowns, becoming the first Cardinals player to do that in a single season. No other NFL rookie has returned as many as three punts for touchdowns in his first eight games. Peterson already shares the career franchise record for touchdowns with Vai Sikahema and Ollie Matson. Peterson is averaging 21.78 yards per return.
