RB Beanie Wells is clearly struggling with a right knee injury, CB Patrick Peterson's 99-yard punt…
Cards' Skelton does good job running
"One of the defense's biggest fears when you play two-man, which is two underneath in man coverage with two over the top, is nobody is on the quarterback. If you have a quarterback who can run, that always scares the defense," coach Ken Whisenhunt said.
--DE Calais Campbell is making himself some money by playing well. Campbell is due to be an unrestricted free agent in 2012. He has five sacks and two blocked field goals. He wants to remain in Arizona, and management has said he is one of the core players it wants to retain. It's unknown if contract talks have started.
--The Eagles are just 3-5, but the Cardinals act and talk as if those numbers were transposed. They think they are facing a much better opponent than the Rams. "We're fortunate and we're blessed and we're going to enjoy the win because it was a great team win," defensive tackle Darnell Dockett said. "But we need to get back focused on a higher opponent. No disrespect to the Rams, but now we've got to play a team that's loaded, name-wise, and we've got to be focused and get back to work."
--Whisenhunt thinks his defense has improved over the past few weeks. The Rams did not score a touchdown last week. "That helps give them confidence, knowing if they do it right and play the scheme the right way, that we've got a chance to be a better and improved defense. ... We messed up quite a few times (Sunday). We had some busts on the defense and they made some plays, but we were able to regroup and stop them and keep them out of the end zone and make plays."
BY THE NUMBERS: 3 -- That's the number of punt returns for touchdowns Patrick Peterson has had this season. Two of them have been the deciding scores in victories. Peterson already is tied for punt returns for touchdowns in a career in franchise history. He leads the NFL with a 21.8-yard average.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "Darrell Green in Washington was a similar type athlete. I played at the time when Deion (Sanders) was playing, so I saw him do it. To say that you expected him to return three for touchdowns in the first eight games, no, I didn't expect that." -- Coach Ken Whisenhunt on rookie Patrick Peterson.
SERIES HISTORY: 112th regular-season meeting. Series tied, 53-53-5. The teams last met in the NFC Championship Game in the 2008 season, with the Cardinals winning, 32-25. The Eagles blasted the Cardinals on Thanksgiving, 48-20, earlier that season. Both teams have changed drastically since then. The coaches are the same but both clubs have different quarterbacks. Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb was the Eagles' backup quarterback in that NFC title game but didn't play.
