Marshall providing boost for Cards' secondary

Posted Nov 14, 2011

Cornerback Richard Marshall has provided a boost for the Cardinals' secondary and could be in line for a pay raise next season.

TRENDING: Cornerback Richard Marshall signed a one-year contract last summer, hoping for a productive season and a more lucrative deal next year. The Cardinals should be interested in keeping him. Marshall's versatility has been a boost for the Cardinals after suffering injuries to the secondary. Marshall has been the nickel cornerback all season and moved into the starting lineup for a game a week ago. With safety Kerry Rhodes out with a broken foot, Marshall has played free safety in passing situations. He has also played well on special teams.

BY THE NUMBERS: Since gaining a season-high 138 yards rushing against the Giants on Oct. 2, running back Beanie Wells has averaged 2.6 yards a carry. Wells suffered a right knee injury against Pittsburgh on Oct. 23, and it affected his quickness and speed. He's had trouble bouncing runs outside, something he was effective doing in the first month of the season. Wells appears to be returning to health, however, and said he feels better than he has in a month.
