QB John Skelton was benched Sunday after throwing his third interception of the game, DT Dan…
Cardinals: Latest Player Notes
--QB John Skelton is now 4-3 as a starter. Skelton was erratic last week in San Francisco and was benched after three quarters. He will start if Kolb can't play.
--QB Rich Bartel threw his first NFL touchdown pass last week after replacing John Skelton in the fourth quarter. Bartel has been with the Cowboys, Browns, Jaguars and Redskins, spending most of that time on the practice squad.
--RB Beanie Wells' right knee injury is improving, but the team is trying to limit his workload. Coaches are trying to get Wells a rest of a couple of series in each half.
--RB LaRod Stephens-Howling is a specialty player with talent for making big plays in the open field. The team runs a lot of one-back, three or four receiver sets when he's in the game.
--RB Chester Taylor has passed Alfonso Smith to become Beanie Wells' backup again. Taylor isn't getting much work, however.
--WR Larry Fitzgerald was not much of a factor in San Francisco because of quarterback John Skelton's inaccuracy. Fitzgerald is making great catches when given a chance.
--WR Andre Roberts is the starter opposite of Fitzgerald but his production is inconsistent.
--WR Early Doucet is having a productive season. He's tough and one of the team's key threats in the red zone.
--TE Todd Heap missed most of the last six games with a hamstring strain. Coaches are hopeful that Heap will play Sunday but they can't count on it.
--TE Jeff King will catch a pass or two a game, but his main job is blocking. He's a solid all-around player.
--TE Rob Housler missed the last three weeks with a groin injury. At best, he will be questionable this week.
--DE Calais Campbell has blocked three field goals this season and five for his career.
--CB Patrick Peterson has been called for 10 penalties this year. Most have been for pass interference, illegal use of hands and holding.
--NT Dan Williams is out for the season after suffering a broken left arm against the 49ers. David Carter likely will start with Nick Eason backing him up.
