--Offensive lineman Adam Snyder spent seven seasons in San Francisco, so he admitted it was strange to sign with the Cardinals, who are rivals with the 49ers. But coming to Arizona made sense. Snyder's wife, Erika, grew up near the Cardinals facility. Her father, Erik Widmark, is a former Cardinals personnel executive. She and Snyder met at Oregon, where Erika played volleyball.
"This was a team I always kept my eye on," he said. "For it to work out the way it did, it's just awesome."
--Cardinals officials have kept a very low profile during the courtship of Peyton Manning. Apparently, Manning wanted it that way, and the Cardinals obliged, figuring they could do nothing but hurt themselves by talking. Other teams have followed suit.
--Snyder admitted he's been following the Manning saga from afar. It's hard not to, he said, "if you watch sports."
--The Cardinals would like left tackle Levi Brown back, but at the right price. "For us, I've got a pretty good idea about where his value should be," general manager Rod Graves said recently, "and I'm hoping we can get a deal done there."
