VOTER COMMENTS ON MINNESOTA VIKINGS (27)
Chris Berman (ESPN, 30) - Impressive late almost comeback.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 30) - This team isn't good enough yet to string strong performances together.
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 27) - Steady progress with Ponder hasn't gone unnoticed.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 25) - Christian Ponder sets the stage for a second straight comeback, but the Vikings can't put away the Colts in the end. Even so, an encouraging start for the second-year QB.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 27) - Three tackles, no sacks in two games from Pro Bowl DE Jared Allen. If he remains quiet, the Vikings will remain quiet.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 25) - The Vikes win one at the buzzer, then lose one at the buzzer. If nothing else, they're discovering that Christian Ponder is a keeper and holds up well under the pressure of making last-minute drives.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 27) - Sooner or later, Jared Allen will get untracked. I'm betting on sooner.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 28) - The Vikings go as Adrian Peterson goes. He needs 22 touches and 125 yards a game for the Vikings to be competitive. Jared Allen needs to start collecting sacks so they don't lose to teams like the Colts.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 26) - The Vikings are getting better as is their QB Christian Ponder. Not enough there for the Vikes to be consistent yet.
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 26) - Vikings coach Leslie Frazier admitted Monday that his young team “is going to play a lot of close games.” That means Minnesota's defense can't afford any more late collapses like the one in Sunday's 23-20 loss to Indianapolis.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 25) - If they couldn't beat the Colts, they might really have a hard time against the 49ers and Lions.
