USC star Robert Woods leaving big impression

USC star wide receiver Robert Woods has excelled against one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL, a distinction that hasn't gone unnoticed by teams as they evaluate him for the draft. When future Seattle Seahawks Pro Bowl cornerback Richard Sherman was guarding Woods during his senior year and Woods was a precocious 18-year-old freshman, he hauled in a dozen receptions for 224 yards.

That kind of performance separates Woods from the pack of receivers.

And it leaves teams intrigued about Woods' potential.

He has almost 10 visits, multiple private workouts and met with nearly 20 teams at the NFL scouting combine.

Last season, Woods started every game and caught 76 passes for 846 yards and 11 touchdowns.

At the NFL scouting combine, the projected first-round draft pick ran the 40-yard dash in 4.42 seconds and recorded a 33-inch vertical leap, a 9-9 broad jump, a 4.47 20-yard shuttle that he improved to 4.36 seconds at his campus Pro Day workout as well as a 7.15 three-cone drill.

As a sophomore, he was a finalist for the Biletnikoff award given to the nation's top receiver.

He caught 111 passes for 1,292 yards and 15 touchdowns, breaking Keyshawn Johnson's school record for receptions.

He caught 17 passes against Minnesota in the season opener.

As a freshman, he started every game and earned freshman All-American honors.

He was named Pac-10 Offensive Freshman of the Year, a first-team all-conference kick returner and caught 65 passes for 792 yards and six touchdowns.

A prep All-American selection in high school, Woods had 1,112 receiving yards as a senior with eight interceptions.

He finished second in the 400 meters, third in the 200 meters and ran the anchor leg for a state champion 1,600-meter relay.

At every level, Woods has found success. Now, he heads to the next challenge in the NFL.
