If you tweet it, he will come. Merely one day after New York Jets tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. sent out a tweet reading "#bringbraylonback," the team is on the verge of re-signing the 30-year-old receiver.
The New York Daily News first reported that Braylon Edwards is currently undergoing a physical with team doctors and if he passes will sign a contract with the Jets on Wednesday. Edwards joined the Jets in a trade from the Cleveland Browns in the middle of the 2009 regular season and was a key impetus for the Jets' consecutive runs to the AFC Championship game.
He served his second stint with Gang Green in 2012, appearing in three games, while recording ten receptions for 125 yards. Edwards has always been a favorite target of embattled quarterback Mark Sanchez and the Jets are in dire need of upgrading their depleted and injury-riddled receiving corps.
With all Jets players set to report to Cortland, N.Y. for training camp Thursday, Edwards could be back in a New York state of mind very soon.
