Gators in the NFL: Week Three

There were 21 former Gators active during week three of the NFL season. Nine of the 21 earned the start for their team. The only touchdown of the group came from an interception returned for a touchdown by Chicago Bears safety Major Wright.

Carlos Dunlap had one of the best games of his career, starting at defensive end and recording seven tackles, including six solo tackles, along with one sack, two tackles for a loss, two quarterback hits and two pass breakups for the Cincinnati Bengals. Reggie Nelson started at free safety and had three tackles, one solo tackle and one fumble recovery.

Major Wright started at safety and had a 38-yard interception return for a touchdown. Wright had seven tackles, including six solo tackles, with one pass breakup and one forced fumble for the Chicago Bears. Jon Bostic saw time at linebacker and made one special teams tackle.

Matt Elam made his second straight start at safety and made five tackles, including four solo tackles, and has one pass breakup for the Baltimore Ravens.

Joe Haden started at cornerback for the Cleveland Browns and made eight tackles, including six solo tackles, and had one pass breakup.

Mike Pouncey started at center for the Miami Dolphins. Kicker Caleb Sturgis went 2-for-2, including a 50-yard field goal.

Jeremy Mincey saw time at defensive end for the Jacksonville Jaguars and had four tackles, including two solo tackles, and one tackle for a loss. Josh Evans saw time at safety and had seven tackles, including three solo tackles.

Ahmad Black started at defensive back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and made three tackles, including two solo tackles, and one assisted tackle on special teams.

Sharrif Floyd saw time at defensive tackle and made one tackle, one quarterback hit and one pass breakup for the Minnesota Vikings.

Jordan Reed saw time at tight end for the Washington Redskins and totaled five catches for 50 yards.

Brandon Spikes started at linebacker for the New England Patriots and made seven tackles, including five solo tackles.

Riley Cooper started at receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles and made two catches for 29 yards.

Ray McDonald started at defensive tackle and made four solo tackles.

Louis Murphy saw time at receiver for the New York Giants and made one catch for eight yards.

Marcus Gilbert started at right tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Saw time but did not record a stat: Denver Broncos wide receiver Andre Caldwell, Miami Dolphins linebacker Jelani Jenkins, New York Giants defensive end Justin Trattou
