Garrett Hughes will be returning to Cal this weekend for an official visit, and he won't be alone.
NFL Cougar Highlights: Week Thirteen
Conversely, Jed Collins and his New Orleans Saints—despite the Monday night ass-waxing administered on them by Seattle—are in pole-position for a playoff spot at 9-3. Although on a three game freefall, it looks like Husain Abdullah's Kansas City Chiefs are in good shape for postseason play, also at 9-3.
Bubble teams include Tennessee (Ropati Pitoitua) and the New York Jets (Chris Ivory), both at 5-7 and contenders still thanks to a weak AFC. Chicago (Marquess Wilson) is playing .500 ball at 6-6, but still in arms-length of the division title in the NFC's down-trodden North.
Here's how the NFL Cougs performed in week 13:
Husain Abdullah, CB, Kansas City, 5th season: No recorded stats from the Chiefs' 35-28 loss to Denver.
Jed Collins, FB, New Orleans, 5th season: Carried the ball once for 12 yards and caught a pass for another 3 in the Saints' 34-7 fall to Seattle.
Brandon Gibson, WR, Miami, 5th season: Did not play; out for the season on injured reserve due to a torn patella suffered in week 8.
Chris Ivory, RB, New York Jets, 4th season: Rushed for 61 yards on 12 carries, despite nursing a bum ankle. Also caught one pass for 12 yards—just his second reception of the season—in the Jets' 23-3 loss to Miami.
Rian Lindell, K, Tampa Bay, 14th season: The Vancouver native connected on two of 3 field goal attempts (long of 53 yards) in the Bucs' 27-6 loss to Carolina.
Travis Long, LB, Philadelphia, 1st year: Did not play; assigned to the Eagles' practice squad.
Ropati Pitoitua, DE, Tennessee, 5th season: The Tacoma native posted two solo stops, including one tackle for a loss, in the Titans' 22-14 fall to the Counterfeit Colts.
Jeff Tuel, QB, Buffalo, Rookie: No recorded stats from the Bills' 34-31 overtime loss to Atlanta.
Marquess Wilson, WR, Chicago, Rookie: No recorded stats from the Bears'23-20 loss to Minnesota in overtime.
