Outside of the Matt Leinart holdout the biggest focus of Training Camp in
Flagstaff has been the offensive line and if they will be able to open some
holds for Edgerrin James.
With the rumors swirling about Lincoln Kennedy coming to the desert at 390+
lbs and 35 years old, it seems the Cardinals might be grasping at straws, but
with Tuesday's news that tackle Oliver Ross will miss somewhere between three
and 10 weeks with a knee injury, it starts to look like maybe the Cardinals are
just trying to plug the holes in their line before they sink the ship.
"We'll just have to see what's going to take place," Denis Green said about
Ross, "They can get a little more examination of the information and make a
decision on him."
The question will be whether the Cardinals place Ross, who signed a five year
free agent contract with the Cardinals last season, on the Injured Reserve,
where he would be lost for the season, or try to wait the injury out, holding a
roster spot for him. The eight year veteran from Iowa State miss four
games last year, and despite being one of the more athletic offensive lineman on
the team he has never been able to step up and play with the same consistency he
showed in Pittsburgh..
"My foot slipped, and then I felt something," Ross told
the Associated Press, "I was just like, 'Football.' I kind of tried to work
through it. It started getting tighter and tighter as practice went on."
