Ken Whisenhunt plans to use the season finale to search for the offensive balance that's been…
SERIES: 58th meeting. Rams lead, 30-25-2. The Cardinals won in St. Louis earlier this season, continuing a trend that started in 2005. The last five games in the series have been won by the road team.
PREDICTION: Rams 24-21
KEYS TO THE GAME: Cardinals QB Kurt Warner likes to run an up-tempo, spread-type offense that features three and four receivers. However, Arizona has to keep RB Edgerrin James involved because St. Louis will be very aggressive in its blitz packages against the immobile Warner behind a so-so offensive line.
With the Cardinals' secondary struggling badly without SS Adrian Wilson and CB Eric Green, the Rams should open up the passing attack and keep pace in a high-scoring tilt. St. Louis has been outscored 130-40 in the fourth quarter in part because RB Steven Jackson has struggled to find running lanes in the second halves of games.
Cardinals: WRs Larry Fitzgerald (groin) and Anquan Boldin (toe) aren't 100 percent, but will play; RG Deuce Lutui (knee) is uncertain.
Rams: LB Brandon Chillar (calf) has been limited in practice but should play.
FAST FACTS: Cardinals Boldin reached 400 career catches in an NFL-record low 67 games, breaking TE Kellen Winslow's record of 72 with San Diego...Rams WR Isaac Bruce has 14,070 career receiving yards, third-most in NFL history behind Jerry Rice and Tim Brown.
--TE Ben Patrick has been a pleasant surprise in the second half of the season. He still makes mental mistakes occasionally, but he has good hands and he's smart enough to pick up the mental side of the game.
--S Aaron Francisco appears to be shaking off the rust from missing six games with calf and knee problems. Francisco is starting at strong safety and gives the club a physical presence in the secondary.
--WR Anquan Boldin has practice well all week and doesn't seem to be suffering many ill effects from a sore toe.
--OG Deuce Lutui is unlikely to play because of a sprained left knee suffered last week. Lutui hasn't practice this week and likely will be replaced by Keydrick Vincent.
--QB Kurt Warner has 24 touchdown passes this year, equaling his total from the previous four seasons.
--LB Brandon Chillar did not practice Thursday for the second straight day and is questionable for this week's game against Arizona because of a calf injury.
--LB Quinton Culberson practiced with the first unit against Thursday and will start Sunday if Brandon Chillar (calf) is unable to play.
--CB Fakhir Brown did not practice again Thursday because of a stomach ailment, but he is expected to play Sunday against Arizona. Brown was experiencing cramping Thursday.
