The Cardinals went into Week 3 looking for a 3-0 start, which hasn’t happened since 1974. Arizona wasn’t able to snap the streak, but many of its players were able to increase personal records. Here is a look at the numbers and the players behind them.
--The Washington Redskins improved to 2-1 on the season Sunday, when they hosted the Arizona Cardinals. In Week 2, they defeated the New Orleans Saints, 29-24, which was head coach Jim Zorn’s first victory with the team. Week 3’s win, gives Zorn an undefeated record at home.
--Following Sunday’s game, the Cardinals will stay in the Washington DC area to avoid unnecessary travel as they play at the New York Jets seven days later. Despite staying on the east coast, the Cardinals are racking up the airline points. When the season is done, the Cardinals will sit sixth in the league for most miles traveled, 26,073.
--Sunday’s game marked CB Ralph Brown’s 100th career game.
--Bertrand Berry has compiled a sack in the first three games of the season. His three consecutive games with a sack is the first time in his 11th year career.
--The Cardinals have not won at Washington since 1998, when Arizona won 45-42. The last six games have been decided by 10 points or less.
--Although Arizona went all out to put points up on Sunday, the Cardinals ended their 10-game streak of scoring at least 20 points in 10 consecutive games, which was the longest active streak in the league.
--Despite Edgerrin James seeing fewer carries due to the aspiring rookie Tim Hightower, James compiled 93 yards against the Redskins. He needs just 518 more yards to break into the top 10 in total yards from scrimmage.
--QB Kurt Warner was one touchdown pass shy of tying Paul Christman (1945-49) for fifth place on the all-time on the Cardinals list. He now has 50 as a Cardinals player.
--Anquan Boldin was looking for 100 receiving yards on Sunday, which would mark his 23rd time, which would establish a new franchise record. He saw just three receptions for 25 yards.
