Arizona Cardinals Wrap up First-Rounder
The Akron, OH native finished his three-year collegiate career by starting 21 of the 36 games in which he appeared at Ohio State, carrying 585 times for 3,382 yards (5.8 yard avg.) and 30 touchdowns. His 3,382 rushing yards rank fourth in school history behind Archie Griffin (5,589), Eddie George (3,768), and Tim Spencer (3,553). He was also named second-team All-American as a sophomore when he rushed for 1,609 yards and 15 touchdowns on 274 attempts.
The talented Wells fits in well with Arizona's power rushing approach on offense. Arizona is expected to take on more of a balanced approach on offense this season with Wells as the starting running back at some point early in the season. Second-year RB Tim Hightower should wind up being the team's third-down back.
To make room on the roster for Wells, the Cardinals have waived TE Alex Shor.
