Training Camp Shakes, Rattles and Rolls
Quarterback Kurt Warner and wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald entered the field quickly on segways breezing past the fans and their applause.
There was talk of the earthquake that was felt as far as Phoenix, but the majority of the talk centered on the Cards and the way they were performing.
The team began warming up and the center of the fans' attention was place-kicker Ben Graham. Graham's kicking seemed to be flawless and got better than each preceding kick. He started off kicking the pigskin short distances but eventually got it far across the field. It was a good entertainment as all the other players got warmed up for the actual plays.
Quarterbacks Warner, Matt Leinart, Tyler Palko and Brian St. Pierre got the attention of the crowd. They were practicing footwork, passing, box drills and some passing. During their passing; tight end Dominique Byrd caught an excellent pass, which warranted cheers from the crowd of roughly 500.
The horn blew and the Cardinals began to practice actual plays. Some insights were discovered on how the team will function and operate as a force on the field. Such as wide receiver Jerheme Urban, who seemed to fall short of the ball when thrown to him. Or how wide receiver Steve Breaston successfully caught a deep, long pass like clockwork. Fiztgerald was spot-on as usual and wowed the crowd with his prowess (remember that catch in the Super Bowl?).
One to watch this season is wide receiver Lance Long. His ability to catch a pass dead- on was impressive and really caught the full attention of the fans. He caught a pass precisely, was able to roll with the catch and run with it with ease.
The final horn blew and practice was concluded with the usual talk from Ken Whisenhunt. The players switched gears from players to celebrities as they left the field and began the autograph lines.
