Starter Still Unnamed for Sunday's Game
Warner reported improvement in his concussion symptoms this week, and he split practice snaps with backup Matt Leinart. Warner said he is optimistic about playing, but he stopped short of saying he definitely will be in the lineup.
"Now it's just judging how we feel and where the symptoms go," he said. "We are watching that process day by day."
The Cardinals expected Warner to play last week, but he was still suffering from concussions symptoms on game day. His vision was a little foggy and his eyes were sensitive to light.
The fogginess is gone but the light sensitivity remains, although to a lesser degree.
Last week, Warner took his usual number of practice snaps with the first team, which meant that Leinart didn't get to run some plays in practice.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt is committed to not letting that happen again and has increased Leinart's workload.
--PK Neil Rackers has a groin strain but has played through it over the past month. He kicked in practice on Thursday and should play Sunday against the Vikings.
--QB Kurt Warner split snaps in practice this week with backup Matt Leinart. While Warner is optimistic about playing, he's not saying definitively that he will be in the lineup Sunday.
--RB Tim Hightower is nursing a thumb injury but he should be able to play against the Vikings.
--LT Mike Gandy likely won't play Sunday after aggravating a pelvic injury last week. It will be the first game Gandy would miss since 2004. He has started every game for Arizona since signing before the 2007 season. It will be the first time in the last two seasons the Cardinals' starting offensive line has not been intact.
--TE Stephen Spach aggravated a knee injury while lifting weights this week and won't play Sunday. Spach should be able to return soon, coach Ken Whisenhunt said.
