RB Beanie Wells was back on the field and a handful of players continue to shine.

The Big Red continued to work in Flagstaff on Tuesday with several players standing out and one making a return to the gridiron after a scare yesterday.

Highlights: RB Beanie Wells returned to action after being carted off the field Monday and being diagnosed with sore ribs. Wells’ workload was decreased, but he was still able to take a couple hits and showed little to no effects from the injury. It is unknown whether or not the second-year back will play in the team’s first preseason game this weekend as he could be kept out as a precaution.

LB Cody Brown was praised by head coach Ken Whisenhunt on Tuesday for his improved play. Brown worked his way into the backfield several times during pass-rush drills and has shown tremendous progress in camp. This is encouraging for Arizona, who drafted the University of Connecticut product in Round 2 of the 2009 draft, after Brown missed all of last season with a wrist injury.

A big surprise in camp has been the leaner Gabe Watson. The third-year nose tackle has shown more quickness without sacrificing size, thus becoming an adequate space-eater and creating opportunities for teammates. The Cards are dealing with a good problem of three nose tackles playing well in camp - Watson, Bryan Robinson and Dan Williams. It will be tough to get all three reps once the season starts, but the coaches should find time for all if their performance stays consistent.

WR Larry Fitzgerald may have made the play of camp Tuesday. Matt Leinart threw a pass that safety Adrian Wilson jumped the route on. The ball was just out of his reach and Fitz made a spectacular one-handed grab. The All-everything wideout continues to appear in Pro Bowl form. Fitzgerald has caught nearly everything thrown his way and seems to make at least one great play per practice.

Quote of the Day: “(He) will have a great year! He's training with me and I'm feeding him hot sauce and gun powder.” –defensive tackle Darnell Dockett via Twitter about teammate Gabe Watson

Injuries: Cornerback Greg Toler left practice with an ankle sprain and is day-to-day. Wide receiver Early Doucet (abdominal strain) has been limited in his work since last week and it is unknown when he will be back to 100%. Defensive end Keilen Dykes (tricep) and tight ends Ben Patrick (knee) and Dominique Byrd (hamstring) continue to miss time.
