Cardinals: First Round of Cuts Complete
The team placed fullback Nehemiah Broughton on injured reserve, ending his season. Broughton, who was competing to start for the Big Red, suffered a torn ACL in Saturday's game in Chicago.
Rookie linebacker O'Brien Schofield was moved to the injured/non-football list, meaning he must sit the first six games, then the team has until the ninth game to put him on the active roster or injured reserve. Schofield, the team's fourth-round pick from Wisconsin, has been rehabbing a torn ACL suffered during the Senior Bowl.
Arizona also waived/injured wide receiver Darren Mougey, who broke his hand during practice last week. The San Diego State alum is considered a possible candidate to make the practice squad, but the competition will be stout.
All NFL teams must cut their roster down to 53 players by the end of this weekend.
