The Arizona Cardinals signed Al Johnson on March 5, 2007 with a four-year deal. Johnson was originally drafted by the Dallas Cowboys out of Wisconsin in the second round of the 2003 NFL Draft.

In his first year in red, Johnson appeared and started in 14 games.
In Dallas
Johnson broke onto the starting roster in his rookie season with the Cowboys, but underwent surgery for cartilage damage in his right knee before the season started. He sat inactive for the entire season, but went on to play in all 16 games for Dallas the following three years.
