| Biography: |
How Acquired: Signed by the New England Patriots June 2, 2008 as an unrestricted free agent.
Pro Career:
(2008) New England Patriots:
(2005-07) Arizona Cardinals:
Placed on the reserved/injured list by the Cardinals on August 27, 2007.
(2000-2004) Pittsburgh Steelers:
2003: Oliver Ross was the expected starter at right tackle at the start of 2003 summer camp but lost the job to Todd Fordham in a close battle. He regained the position for the final nine games of the season. He also started one game at left tackle. Ross has the versatility to be a valuable backup at tackle and guard spots on the line but will again be in a competition with Fordham, and others, at 2004 summer camp for the right tackle spot.
2002: Oliver was called on to step in at RG and RT during the season, starting one game for Kendall Simmons, and replacing Marvel Smith for one half in another. With the departure of Marvel Smith, he will have an opportunity to win one of the starting tackle slots.
Oliver Ross was a former fifth round pick of the Dallas Cowboys (1998) who was signed to the Steelers practice squad in November 2000, after stints with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1999 and in NFL Europe earlier that spring.
The Steelers liked Ross's versatility to back up both the guard and tackle positions and also viewed him as a potential starter. He started seven games and played in all 16 regular season games in 2001. Oliver was signed to a restricted free agent offer sheet by the Cleveland Browns in the spring of 2002 and the Steelers matched it, signing him for through the 2004 season.
(1999) Philadelphia Eagles:
(1998) Dallas Cowboys:
College:
Iowa State
At Iowa State, Ross started out as a defensive end and moved to the offensive line his junior year. He was the starting left tackle his senior year.
