In the midst of a two-game winning streak, the Cardinals are starting to get passing grades.
Wells keeps on plugging despite knee injury
Wells suffered the injury against the Steelers on Oct. 23. The Cardinals haven't provided details, saying only that Wells experienced some swelling and soreness.
There is no question the injury affected Wells' performance. In his three games before the injury, Wells averaged 4.8 yards a carry. In the four games after, his average was 3 yards.
But Wells said the knee feels better now than it has since the injury. His mediocre production against the Eagles (23 carries, 62 yards) had more to do with the Philadelphia defense playing well and breakdowns by the Arizona offensive line.
The absence of fullback Anthony Sherman also has been a factor. Sherman has missed most of the past two games with an ankle injury. Reagan Maui'a was signed and has done a decent job, but Sherman, a rookie, had developed into a solid blocker.
