Despite reports to the contrary, the Giants have had and still have no plans to release or move RB Ron Dayne. While Dayne had a rough afternoon in St. Louis (11 carries, 18 yards) Jim Fassel said that the club hasn't given up on its former first-round draft pick.

Fassel added that Dayne was not faultless for his sub-par performance, but on some occasions he was left hanging out to dry by his blockers.

Additionally, it wouldn't make salary cap sense to unload Dayne - this season or next. The Giants view Dayne as an excellent insurance policy and a bargain behind starting RB Tiki Barber.
